Natural Pigments
Pennsylvania, United States 2020 – 2022
Works in this series use natural pigments in conjunction with a grounding energetic practice. Each piece is an exploration of unprocessed pigments from flowers, herbs, fruits and vegetables, nuts and berries, coffee, charcoal, clay, and kaolin, applied directly to paper. These works were often created within a centering asana practice, and often became the meditative practice itself. Because of the instability of the raw pigments, many of these pieces have dramatically changed over time. I see this as a part of the ephemeral beauty of nature, and embrace this aspect in many areas of my work. Pieces in this series are approximately 18” x 24.”
